About Angela

Hello. My name is Angela. :)

I began pursuing my MFA in Acting at my Super Awesome Conservatory (which goes unnamed on this blog, but isn't all that hard to figure out with a bit of creative searching) in August 2008. I graduated in May 2011.

On this blog, I tried to chronicle my journey of earning an MFA, writing about my classwork and rehearsals on a daily basis (at least for the first two years; the third year was harder, as I didn't have classes to write about). This blog was named as one of the 100 Best Blogs for Film and Theatre Students, and ranked in the top 12 blogs about Acting & Auditioning.

In August 2009, I became a regular blogger for Unscripted, which was a blog for actors run by Backstage.com. (It has since shut down, because Backstage is under new ownership... and they appear to have deleted all of our blog posts, so the links are broken. Sadness.)

In 2011, I played Lady in Las Meninas by Lynn Nottage, which toured to Miami, as well as Gabriella the Italian air hostess in Boeing Boeing, the Chorus Leader in Antigone Now by Marc Camoletti, and Greta in a workshop of Some of the People, All of the Time by Jamie Pachino (dir. Artistic Director). I was also in a student-produced workshop of The Thrill of the Chase by Philip Gawthorne, in which I played Izzy.

In the 2008/2009 FSU/Asolo Conservatory season, I played the roles of Amanda Urbane and Lucy Brehm in The Mystery Plays by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (dir. Head-Of-Program); The Nurse and The Matron in Machinal by Sophie Treadwell. As part of my 2nd year of training, I have also played Andromache in Andromache (dir. Acting Professoressa) as well as being in the chorus for both Electra and Helen. I was also in a student production of Shakespeare's King John (dir. 3rd-Year KS) as Eleanor and Salisbury, and a workshop of Three for Tea, a new play by Nick Tierce, in which I played the title role of Tea.

In May 2009, I played the role of Girl in the Theatre's workshop of Suzan Zeder’s new play, The Edge of Peace. It is the final play in Zeder’s trilogy, with Mother Hicks and The Taste of Sunrise. In the 2008/2009 season at the Theatre, I was the understudy for both Paulina in The Winter’s Tale and Béline in The Imaginary Invalid.
